Cell Phone and Skin Care

skin care cell phone dermatitis If you have skin problems, your skin care plan might include turning off your cell phone.

Mobile phones have been accused of many things, but this is the first time they've been blamed for causing a skin rash.

I came across this article from British Nursing News Online following a link on Clive Thompson's collision detection blog. It dates back to June 2003, but it's so unusual, I'm publishing it anway.

"The sound of a constantly ringing mobile phone can trigger attacks of skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.

Laboratory tests by scientists in Japan showed that the stress of listening to mobiles can cause a major flare-up in symptoms.

The solution could be as simple as cleaning your cell phone (or any phone you use for that matter)with soap & water. Think of how often we place them to our faces. Dead skin cells, sweat, old makeup, food particles (yours and anyone else using the phone) are bombarding your phone on a daily basis. Give it a try, within a week ....... you could be amazed.

I too have been diagnosed with excema. We have gone through all teh testing for all other allergies. I have cut out nuts, chocolate and caffeine, and somewhat now oranges.
Everytime I use my blackberry cell phone it is getting remarkably worse. I do have higher than usual nickel levels detected. I use my cell phone 1200 minutes a month, so by no means small use. I am going to just use speaker phone for the next week or two... will keep you guys posted. Doctor thinks there is a direct link as well as an Alberta allergist...

My sister has had a horrible outbreak of blisters, redness, cracked and swelling on her face right where the cell phone is held on her face. She and I have done some research on the internet and are convinced that this is due to the cell phone usage. Does anyone know of any more articles on this subject?

I have recurring rashes on my face where I lay my cell phone when I talk. I do have metal allergies and cannot wear jewelry because I get terrible rashes. I have always been sure that it is my cellphone that causes the rash I just never thought about it being the metal content that was the direct cause. It was suggested to me that the rashing might be because of the heat generated by the phone but I know that my cell phone doesn't heat up that much when I am using it. My lap top heats up more than that and I have never gotten rashes on my lap or stomach where I usually place my laptop.

Thanks for posting the info. However, I am looking for a source for your info. It would be useful to know where you recieve info about cell phones and skin disorders. I am still doing my web research and I cannot find anything about the metal content of my particular cell phone. Thanks for informing of a new avenue for me to search.

Peace.

I feel that cell phones can be linked to acne. I know of several teenagers who very frequently use their cell phones and who have developed a bad case of acne/skin disorders.

Pls keep in mind that one cause of skin rash/acne could be from any "nickel" found in cell phones. If the person is allergic to nickel, like in their earrings, and have to by non-allergenic jewelry, then cell phones causing acne/face rash/skin disorders Is a supported statement if they are made from any amounts of nickel.

For all you doubters out there, just remember when it comes down to the wire, you heard it from me. I will not hesitate to say "I told you so."

For those of you who believe there is something here, just sit back and wait. You'll see you were right. MisBee

You know what, the only reason I found this page is because I've been looking for any links between skin and the cell phone, simply because everytime I talk more than 4 or 6 minutes, I get a rash on that side of my face. I'm not imagining it because I've tested it out serveral time. Anytime there loads of money involved companies will never tell the truth about negative affects until forced...hint, cancer-tabacoo companies, bad memory lose-man made chemical sweetners. They know that Americans are just spoiled and want what they want, therfore, they can make oodles of $$ before we yell about crud.

It looks overestimated. Jsut give hard core statistics before emotions. Any cream would cause rash more often than a phone
