Kenny, No!
Did Kenny Rogers blow his sexy image when he got plastic surgery?
Man, when I grow older, I hope I don’t end up being so vain or insecure as to feel I need plastic surgery*. Kenny looked awesome! Why did he feel the need to do this?

Killing The Kids
An interesting television show on how diet and exercise can change your kids' looks.
We then changed the channel to the WE! network and watched “Honey, We’re Killing the Kids,” which is a reality-based show where a nutritionist evaluates a household’s lifestyle and puts the data into a computerized program which shows the parents simulated time-lapse photography of the kids from their present age to age 40 if they continue living as they do. In 3 weeks, the family makes lifetyle, diet and exercise changes and they are re-evaluated and the program does the sequence of photos again to see how the kids would be different in the future if they keep up with the improvements.

Exercise Or Lipitor?
It turns out that diet and exercise may be better for mom's cholesterol than more Lipitor pills.
My mother is very healthy an active for an 83 year old. She looks 10 or 15 years younger than her 83 years. She takes a pill for high blood pressure and Lipitor for cholesterol. When she went to her regular doctors appointment in January her doctor told her he was going to double her Lipitor dosage because with the new Medicare Drug plan she could afford it. This struck me as odd since my mother is not poor and not really having in difficulty paying for her drugs before. When I mentioned that my mother exercised and ate well and gave examples her doctor informed me that diet and exercise had little effect. My mother did double her Lipitor dose and immediately had complications. I told her to return to the old dosage and she improved.

Bearded Bride
What they mean by this, but they daren’t say it because in the Crazy World of Cosmo Bride it isn’t even an issue, is “Girl, do something about the beard”. Unfortunately it’s something that many of us have to deal with, and, unfortunately, it’s in my genes. So I’ve tried plucking, creams, sanding, but the only thing that works is waxing. But, of course, the Cosmo Bride has not one imperfection nor beardy growth, so she’s just told to exfoliate regularly and slap on the sunscreen.

Mesotherapy Safety Study Launched
With mesotherapy, the fat is supposed to melt away.
I have spoken about mesotherapy in the past and the fact that it is still not an approved procedure in the United States. It does not mean, though, that you cannot have it. That is why the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) has announced the commencement of a double-blind placebo study of mesotherapy.

Mom & Daughter Diet & Exercise
Diet and exercise can be even more challenging when it's a mother-daughter ordeal.
My daughter has signed both she and I up for this 3 month diet and exercise challenge thing sponsored by Self magazine. We both eat like health-nuts anyway (whole foods, nuts, berries, tree bark), but exercise is the kicker. She likes to run. I don't. We're supposed to keep a food and workout diary online. She's doing this, I swear, because I screamed the last time we out for one of her auto driving lessons.

Sell Me A Gimmick
From a good post on skin care productsAnyhow I can go back to using drugstore brands and head back to the J N J products that were good to me. The biggest difference now is that I’m using acne on-the-spot treatments with benzoyl peroxide versus salicylic acid (which didn’t work fast enough or well enough). I’ve ruined my 400 thread count king size pillowcase but my pimples go down faster. When I visit Jeff I’ll leave it at home so I don’t ruin his sheets.

Beauty
This blooger hates the idea that “babies prefer pretty people” and “ugly children get neglected”.
But the idea of beauty is different in every culture. So when they parade a long stream of “pretty” and “ugly” people past a group of babies and guage their reaction, who are the babies? Who are the people? As I grow older, and plastic surgery gets progressively more affordable, I spend much of my time in the movie theatre looking through my fingers at the scary, scary actors on the screen, with gigantic breasts and cartoon-parody swollen lips and skin stretched so thinly so that light reflects off of it like it’s molded plastic (which of course, it often is). Were these the people the babies reacted favorably to? Here’s my guess: the babies reacted favorably because the other people in the room reacted favorably. I mean, jesus, when I went wandering around Toronto with my friend Mia, it was like an episode of National Geographic. Men and women fell all over themselves getting close to her, talking to her, wanting her attention. Of course a baby would pick up on that kind of positive atmosphere. To imply that beauty is a trait that a baby knows from birth is patently absurd.

Stork's Coming!
See your doctor to determine what kinds of supplements you need during your pregnancy.
There are a few things that I should have done by now. A friend of the sig.other’s suggested that I buy a copy of the book What to Expect When You’re Expecting
. Another one suggested that I go for pre-natal supplements.

I Got A job!
Congrats!
But then again, McD’s rejected my job application, as with countless other retailers - I had a permanent, genetically-induced (my cruel fate started at conception it would seem) sleepy face that scares away retail companies fearing it would put off their customers. I could do plastic surgery, but it’s rather expensive, so I need to get a job for that, and thus the vicious cycle begin - no job without plastic surgery, no plastic surgery without job.

Another Parenting Discovery
Pregnancy and child birth can create many dry skin conditions.
A few days ago, however, I had a few extra seconds when drying off after my shower to take a closer look (and when I say a few extra seconds, I’m being truthful. My shower time is always a delicate balance between blissful solitude and hearing the babies screaming in the next room while Andrea yells over the screaming to find out what’s taking me so long). But I digress. What I noticed upon careful inspection was not your typical dry skin.

That day you wake up and see the dry skin and wrinkles.
My skin is looking just hideous this morning!!! I look like I'm 45! Or 50! Seriously! I was staring in the mirror this morning as I was getting ready and it looked like there were wrinkles everywhere and dry skin here and there - it was fucking scary as hell!!!!

Exercise & Diet Improve Nerves!
Another good reason to exercise more and eat less!
Honestly everyday I wake up, I find an article about a new study showing a new reason to workout. Here is todays…apparently consistent diet and exercise actually goes as far as to dull pain, improve nerve functioning, and make things that should hurt a lot more, hurt a lot less.

Burned Toes
The problem with sunscreenWell we are back from the beach. It was a good time had by all, nice and relaxing. I followed the doctor's instructions and I have to say that I didn't have any huge breakout like I normally would. I may have even gotten a shade darker in the face region but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me. Of course, I didn't think to put any sunscreen on my feet, which got really burned.

The Goods
Good care package, especially the lip careGot a care package from my sister (she of the durian perfume) in New Jersey (soon to be of Connecticut). Loved the swag we got: 4 books, lip care kit (not for me, silly, the wife!), Bath & Body Works hand wash, and (this is way cool) erotic magnetic poetry.

Fellow Bloggers
We just want more good tips on diet and exercise, please.
We are all human. Sometimes, we get busy. Sometimes, we go through crises that divert our attention from… oh… the internet. Sometimes, we are just not interested in what is said. I’ll admit to skipping over posts out of complete and total disinterest. I am not concerned about reading the baseball stats of every major league player in the game. I don’t wanna read a scene by scene editorial of the latest Battlestar Galactica episode. I am far from overjoyed to read about the number of times your newborn baby took a pooh in a single day. And I am sure you all have similar criteria. I know that I complain about my boss a lot. I know that I drone on about diet and exercise. Perhaps I offer far too much information about my relationship. If it bores you, I understand. I don’t expect to hold everyone’s attention every single time.

Acne Scar
Dr. Cherrie Blas on acne scar treatment.
If your acne scars are just flat (surface-level) and discolored, treatment’s simpler because you are only considering either prescription-strength topical treatments (which you do on your own at home), chemical peel series, microdermabrasion or IPL intense pulsed light sessions.

Preventing Disease
A transcript from a teleconference discussing the use of supplements to prevent disease.
I’m also a nutritional biochemist, and I’d rather be able to prevent disease than to have to treat disease. To that end, I’ve done over 30 clinical studies on dietary supplements, and I’ve formulated dozens of dietary supplements.

Teath Cleaning
Those crazy Americans and their white teeth.
If you look up “teeth cleaning” online, you will be dumbfounded at the websites available to you. Whether you need information on proper tooth care, or are simply looking for a good whitening system, you will find it on the Internet. Since white teeth became all the rage in the 90’s, everyone seems to be vying for that brighter shade. Our media has deemed you unacceptable if you lack the necessary luster. If you check out other countries, you will soon notice that they don’t put near the focus on white teeth as we do. In fact, we often poke fun at them in our television programs and films. We Americans assume everyone wants perfectly straight, white teeth. I recall my trip to Taiwan, and my impression of their teeth cleaning habits. For some reason they didn’t seem to mind crooked teeth, or tar stains. This baffled me, coming from America, where image is everything.
