Thermal Water
Skin care tip of the day? A thermal bath.
I've long suspected that the Europeans know some thing about skincare that they're just not sharing with us folks across the pond. One of their secrets- just recently come to America- is thermal water.

Herbal Weight Loss Therapies Attacked
Do herbal supplements help with weight loss?
According to some obesity experts, herbal therapies just can’t work because they “cannot beat the body’s efforts to conserve fat.” In large scale trials time and time again the herbal and vitamin supplements failed to do much of anything for the body, and in some cases people began relying on them and were starving their bodies of the nutrients it needed.

Raising Kids
The TV program Supernanny inspires comments on raising kids and tooth care.
Last night’s couple had two boys who were allowed to fall asleep on the sofa in front of the telly each evening. In this information abundant age it amazes me that some people simply haven’t worked out that a solid bedtime regime is good for kids, not to mention how good it is for parents who get some grown up time and with it a chance to hold onto their sanity. Do these people not talk to their own parents or friends with children for tips and handy hints? Do they not read the exhaustive manual that came courtesy of the health centre before baby was even born covering all manner of topics from tooth care to childhood illnesses and immunisation? Of course they don’t, but just about everyone I know does.

Alfalfa Supplements
Not much evidence that alfalfa supplementsOne potential issue intrinsic to alfalfa is that it has been associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in animal studies (as opposed to human trials or cases). Alfalfa supplements have been associated with the activation of dormant SLE as well. SLE is an autoimmune disease, which can damage the kidneys and other organs.

General Shaving Tips
Some help if you have dry skin and use and electric razorAs far as electric shavers go, I've used the Philips Norelco BodyGroom, and the Seiko Cleancut. From the standpoint of receiving an irritation free shave, the Seiko Cleancut is the better of the two shavers if you use it right, and is probably better suited for women. It's a good maintenance shaver, and it is quite. I have mixed feelings about the fact that it runs off a C battery. I'd like to see rechargeable version. If you use the Cleancut, remember to tilt the razor while making small circular motions. You should also use it on dry skin lightly powdered with talcum, feminine deodorant powder, or even cornstarch. Use of such a powder will facilitate smooth movement across the skin, and will provide better results.

"Visioning Tibet"
Eye care for Tibet.
As I was thinking about the dark, I got a call from a friend letting me know that she hasn’t gotten her new glasses as promised by the eye doctor, and is unhappy that she can’t work or do much else without them. I asked if she’d heard of the Tibet Vision Project, and was happy to fill her in. “The Tibet Vision Project acts as a catalyst for Tibetan ophthalmology programs by transferring the technology and skills of modern eye care to the poorest populations of Tibet at an affordable cost,” according to their website.
