Windows To The Soul

skin care eye care contact lenses Good tips on eye care and the proper use of contact lenses.

Contact lenses are no longer marketed or purchased for pure functionality these days. They have emerged to suit various lifestyles and trends. You may be familiar with some of these big brands in the market if you are a contact lens user - Acuvue, Focus, Bausch and Lomb, Ciba Vision and Freshlook. In fact, contact lenses can even be purchased and ordered online now at VisionDirect.com. How convenient can that be! You don’t even need to spend hours waiting to be served in the shop or drive to your optician’s place. Just fax in your prescription given to you by your eye care provider, choose your lenses and your order is placed.

"Visioning Tibet"

skin care eye care tibet Eye care for Tibet.

As I was thinking about the dark, I got a call from a friend letting me know that she hasn’t gotten her new glasses as promised by the eye doctor, and is unhappy that she can’t work or do much else without them. I asked if she’d heard of the Tibet Vision Project, and was happy to fill her in. “The Tibet Vision Project acts as a catalyst for Tibetan ophthalmology programs by transferring the technology and skills of modern eye care to the poorest populations of Tibet at an affordable cost,” according to their website.

False Eyelashes

skin care jlo eyes Everything you wanted to know about false eyelashes!
The recent hype of false eyelashes started with J.Lo’s controversial red mink eyelashes for her Oscars attendance last 2002, followed by Madonna’s mink and diamond lashes for her music video, and Oprah’s fabulous false mink eyelashes. ( I’m hearing alot of “mink” here! ) Shu Uemura certainly is the stars’ favorite when it comes to lash work!

Versace On The Eyes

skin care versace glasses Glasses from Target or Versace? You make the call.

I went to buy glasses today, determined to get the whole thing over with. I’ve been looking for way to long! Well, naturally I didn’t find anything nice at the eye care place in Target because well, to be honest the guy there was just annoying and I didn’t feel like dealing with him anymore so I just stated that I didn’t like anything and we left. (Annoying sales person = not good) We went to Perl Vision down route 18 and the place was much nicer. The lady was funny, and quite a bit nicer, and less annoying, then the guy at Target. Naturally, being in the giant store, there was a much larger selection and NATURALLY the really big “Versace” sign could not be ignored. I mean come on, it was such a pretty sign! So, I went over and found a really nice pair of glasses and now I’m very happy with them.

I Hate My Government Part I: Contacts

skin care eye care contact lens A new federal law requires you to provide a prescription for new contact lenses.

The end result is that I don’t know if I’ll ever get new contacts without jumping through a series of ridiculous hoops to get there. All due to a government that has replaced a love of liberty with a subtle - but very real - tyranny.

Why Do We Get Bags Under Our Eyes?

skin care bags under eyes The skin under your eyes might be the most noticed skin you have. Skin care under your eyes is very different than anywhere else. Click the link for more info.

It's a question I've had since forever, so I figure there may be others who've also wondered.

Below, Dr. Rhoda S. Nairns, clinical professor of dermatology at New York University School of Medicine and president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, gives the most complete, understandable and logical answer I've ever come across.

It appeared in the February 2005 issue of Scientific American, in their "Ask the Experts" feature.

Dr. Nairns omitted two things that perhaps she takes for granted you'd be aware of.

I, on the other hand, know that one should take nothing for granted insofar as it involves joeheads.

Let me note the two most important things you can do to mitigate the severity of dark circles and bags under your eyes:

1) Avoid sunlight to the face. It destroys skin, rendering it prematurely old and inelastic.

2) Avoid cigarettes. The constituents of cigarette smoke age blood vessels prematurely, destroying the microcirculation. When subcutaneous tissues don't get blood, they also stop receiving oxygen and die. Dead connective tissue sags.
