My Brother Is Kid Carson
A study in metrosexual skin care products.
But it doesn’t end with clothes. Both Kid Carson and my brother could probably be labeled as metrosexual. They “take care of themselves” by buying a series of designer skin care products, using salon shampoos and conditioners, and taking more time to prepare for a casual dinner than their female counterparts. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I hung out in the living room with my brother’s (now ex-)girlfriend as he was still showering, primping, or pruning himself upstairs.

Ayurvedic Facial
Fans of the ayurvedic tradition use ubtan paste for skin care after a massage.
Have you heard of an ubtan? It is a traditional paste that is applied to the face or body after a massage treatment. Ayurvedic traditional skin care has many different types of ubtan pastes, each one with a different character, according to the ingredients and the needs. These ubtan are applied after massage treatments that are known as beauty massages.

Right Color
Tips on finding the right color skin care products for your coloring.
If you desire a natural look then choose colors that match the undertones in your skin. If you have warm undertones in your skin, then wear warm colors. If you have cool undertones, wear colors with cool undertones. For a more dramatic look, wear the opposite, but be consistent.

Lots of good organic skin care products for babies, including bubble bathSome of the companies that provide organic baby skin care products even have special blends for premature babies who have the most delicate skin of all. One of the best products to look for made with natural substances is bubble bath. Small babies love the bubbles floating around in the air while they clean up.

Search For Soap
This blogger's memoryAnd the smell of almond soap takes me back to a horrendous job I had after I graduated from high school. The one good memory I have about that job was the delicious bathroom soap, how the scent would linger on my hands. I always wanted to find a similarly scented soap for myself, but this was the pink kind that’s installed in public restroom dispensers.

Natural Skin Care
Great post if you need help finding naturalOver the years, I have purchased most due to un-substantiated marketing hype either in a Magazine or on TV. My bathroom was FULL of Cosmetic Graveyards. Currently, I am in search of the truth which seems to be what’s not in the products. Have you noticed latley that Natural and Botanical are the buzz words of choice pertaining to all we injest or put on our faces & bodies? Sounds good to me although you need to a PHD to decipher the entire ingredient list which in MOST cases contains something UN-Natural. I have listed ingredients that have a POSITIVE GREAT END RESULT ON YOUR SKIN.

Skin Care For Men
Shaving lotionNowadays, there are many skincare labels who carry a dedicated range for men. I do believe that it is important for men to take care of their skin though this truth may sound alien to many. Ask any man if he uses skin care and he will tell you - yes, I use shaving cream. Shaving foam/gel/cream and after shave lotion are one of the most important skin care products for men.

Sephora For Poor Girls
A poor girl finds SephoraAh, Sephora. I love it just as much as any other girl. Sephora tempted me back into the malls. Sephora upgraded me from a beauty routine that hadn't evolved since high school. It's genius, really, something that wasn't available to our mothers: department store beauty brands without the high pressure sales, the magnifying mirror scrutiny of the overly-made up salesgirls. I know all stores are working on me psychologically, but ever since I learned how department stores are meant to be confusing so you get lost and buy things, I avoid them.

Hong Kong Version Of Sephora
If you need an alternative to SephoraI have been ordering beauty and skin care products from Sephora for many years. Recently, my sister told me about an alternative website, www.Sasa.com, hosted in Hong kong. Besides carrying most US and European brands, Sasa also carries some of the leading Asian brands such as Laneige, Kose, SK-II, Kanebo, DHC, Chen Yu, etc. Its hard to find most of these brands in the US. Even better, the prices on Sasa are lower than most retail prices. All purchases are shipped directly from Hong Kong, therefore, here is no sales tax. Sasa also offer free shipping for orders greater than $75.

Rosacea Help
This blogger likes the way the Clarsonic facial brushSo, all in all, a very successful product trial for me. I will continue to use it! It makes me feel a lot better about how I look (and my rosacea has been at times a huge source of personal angst). I’m grateful that my friend Heather pointed me to the study. I’m certain I wouldn’t have gone out and bought a Clarisonic - assuming that it wouldn’t work for my rosacea. Other than the skin care products and supplements that I use - it is the single-most effective product I’ve used for managing and reducing my rosacea.

The Skinny On Sunless Tanning
A great post on how the new sunless tanning skin care works.
According to this article, the sunless tanning market is hot. Recently, major skin care manufacturers have discovered how to combine a skin moisturizer with a sunless tanner to make an effective “light” sunless tanner that gives a steady color change. These new tech products prevent the streaking effect that has been a major drawback of traditional sunless tanners. They also provide daily moisturization so there’s a reason to use them everyday. You get healthy skin and a natural looking color.

Organic Skin Care
Good post on the search for natural skin careWhen I started my quest for organic and chemical free skin care I started the search at my local grocery store which happens to be Whole Foods. I went and spoke to their helpful staff and gave them my ideal profile for a skin care line, again chemical free and organic. By the way, I did this on a number of different occasions at different Whole Foods stores, with different staff in and around my city.

The exceptions would be the times that most normal women do not look good, such as just before going to bed, when I have anointed myself with creams guaranteed to stave off wrinkles and acne (yes - the irony - why am I fighting both at the same time??) and just after waking, when the creams have congealed in my pores and I have morning breath.

L'Oreal Cashmere Perfect Soft Powdercreme Makeup

Dermatologist-tested. Non-comedogenic. Not recommended for very dry skin."
The texture of this product is exactly how they describe it. It's so soft and light - very mousse-like. It feels really luxurious on your skin, and spreads smoothly. The finish is light enough to look real, yet provides a nice, even texture. They say that you should not use this product if you have very dry skin, and I can see how that would be true. This product works best on well-exfoliated, hydrated skin. If you have persistent dry skin on your face, you should follow their advice and steer clear of this one.

Fusion Skin Care for Men
A new skin care product for men:
Due to a growing interest in skin care among upscale males, Fusion for Men has opened a brand new online store focusing solely on a healthy array of made-in-the-USA skin care products for men.
Fusion for Men, a skin care products company, recently announced the grand opening of an avant-garde online store. Skin care for men has gone from Hollywood to the boardroom and beyond according to Fusion for Men President Andrew Frankel.

“Each of these skin care products for men has its place in nourishing and protecting the male skin,” said Frankel. “Although men don’t tend to shout it from the rooftops, we have been getting excellent product reviews.” Other Fusion for Men skin care products work well for both sexes, including a sea salt body scrub, a shower gel and body butter.

This blogger recommends a website for skin care products. Click through for more info.
One of my favorite times of day has always been bath time, and sitting in a hot bath while soaking in a different mixture of "bath soup" every night is one of my favorite ways to unwind from an active day. One night, the soup might include bath salts or a bath bomb. Another night, it might be bath oil, and on another, it might be a big mixture of all the bath products within my reach after I hop in the tub. And every time my bath ends, I find myself very relaxed from the hot water and completely soft from the great stuff I've put in it.

Animators Help Make Better Skin Care Products
Animation artists learned from medical technology how light scatters when it hits your face. Skin care scientists are following in the animators foot steps as they employ new techniques to make better skin care products.
Paul Matts, a London-based research scientist at Proctor & Gamble, and others are borrowing from the same medical technology to intricately map the differences between youthful and older skin. Again, the key finding is that appearance of a youthful glow or a pallid hue depends on how light is scattered just under the skin's surface.
With the help of medical technology, they've found that the distribution of three different light-absorbing molecules, known as chromophores, is what influences how light is scattered — and how young or aged skin appears.
"The surprising thing is while we think of human appearance as complex, it's really driven by these three chromophores," said Matts. "It's the unique concentration and distribution of these chromophores that drives human appearance and has a profound impact on our judgment."

Creme de la Mer Moisturizer
This moisturizer is in all the fashion mags that follow skin care.
The cream was first developed by Max Huber, an aerospace physicist from NASA, who suffered serious chemical burns on his face and eyes after working with rocket fuels. During the course of his recovery, he went through a number of medical treatments and therapeutic preparations and then became obsessed with skin care.
The main ingredient in Creme de la Mer is sea kelp. As a keen environmentalist, Huber knew that sea kelp picked off the coast of California during certain times in the lunar cycle has excellent healing qualities. He then added other natural ingredients, including magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, lecithin and Vitamins C, D, E and B12, as well as extracts from sunflower, alfalfa, wheatgerm and citrus.

Look for Skin Care Products that Only Use the Highest Quality Vitamin C & Vitamin E
Here's a new formulation. neaclear is a clinical skin care company offering both cutting edge physician-strength skin care solutions as well as innovative over-the-counter skin care products. They were reviewed by www.prweb.com:
(PRWEB) March 12, 2005 -- There are only a few skin care products available today that have Vitamin C or Vitamin E in them. Of the two, Vitamin C is the one more likely to be found in some of the more potent skin care lines. It is rare to find a skin care product that has both Vitamin C & Vitamin E.

Cetaphil Lover
Cetaphil is a favorite of doctors for skin cleansing. Here's one blogger's experience.
However, I don't use this regimen every day. I have very oily skin, but exfoliating like that every day dries my skin up a lot, so sometimes I'll just use Noxema. The best daily cleanser by far is Cetaphil. This stuff makes washing and moisturizing your face a quick and easy no-brainer. You don't need water to use it, but I always like to start out by moistening my face with warm water. You squirt some in your washcloth and wash your face really well and voila! Skin that's so fresh and so clean clean clean, and soft, too! Now, Cetaphil is pricey, so I've tried the drugstore brands that are out there. They are identical, so that's what I use. If it makes you feel any better (a boy does have to think about his reputation!), you can keep the real Cetaphil bottle and fill it with the generic stuff. Noone fortunate enough to snoop around in your bathroom will ever know the difference! While you're at it, fill a small bottle to carry around with you - so that fresh clean look is always just a *squirt!* away! *grin!*

Look for Skin Care Products that Only Use the Highest Quality Vitamin C & Vitamin E (PR Web via Yahoo! News)
It is not enough just to take your vitamins. You need to make sure that the quality of the vitamins is high, or they can do more harm than good.
Read the whole article. One of the most common misconceptions is that the quality and strength of Vitamin C & Vitamin E is not important. Most of the products that claim to have Vitamin C or Vitamin E actually have a very minimal amount or have one of the less potent versions of these vitamins. Consumers should always make sure there is an adequate level of Vitamin C & Vitamin E in their skin care products.

Tea in Skin Lotion May Prevent Cancer
Skin care products made with tea may reduce chances of skin cancer.
Zigang Dong, MD, and colleagues at the University of Minnesota Hormel Institute in Austin, MN, tested a solution containing chemicals called polyphenols, extracted from green tea, on live mice who were exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. They also performed tests on skin cells from mice and humans cultured in the laboratory. The study results, presented recently at the American Chemical Society annual meeting in New York, show that a protein called JNK-2 appears to be directly related to the development of skin cancer and that this protein can be blocked by the application of polyphenols. After the skin is exposed to UV light, levels of this protein rise and remain high. The researchers think that JNK-2 can cause a molecular chain reaction that makes normal skin cells become cancerous.

Skin Care Is Big Business
The skin care market that addresses health and aging is a big business.
A $12.4 billion market, consumer skin and hair care and makeup products that beautify as they address health problems or concerns are a booming market, according to a new report released by MarketResearch.com. The concept of cosmeceuticals was reportedly introduced with antiaging preparations in the early 1990s, and has stretched into shampoos with stress-relieving scents or lipsticks with sunscreen. New attitudes about beauty and America’s changing ethnic mix are reportedly a few of the factors driving sales.

Massage Oils
Massage is wonderful for relieving stress and stretching your muscles. The massage oil you use may affect your skin. Here's some helpful information on different essential oils for your skin care during massage.
Essential oils are extremely concentrated and must always be diluted, otherwise they can sting and even cause allergies. To use them during a massage, you need to dilute them in a carrier oil. The most commonly used carrier oils are almond, olive, soya, grape-seed, avocado, hazelnut, peach and wheat-germ oils. Many of these are very expensive. Wheat germ oil is rich in vitamin E and acts as an antioxidant but it is a bit thick and heavy, so add just a little to a light carrier oil to prevent your massage oil from turning rancid. To dilute an essential oil, mix one to three drops with a 5 ml teaspoon of carrier oil. (Most essential oils will have directions on their label). If you want to make up a larger quantity, add 15 to 30 drops to 2 fluid oz. (50 ml) or carrier oil. Use a more diluted mixture on sensitive skin and on the face

Skin Care at the Mall
Some perspectives on retail and skin care at the mall.
But who would have thought we'd see a mall-based chain like Nuvo Laser Skin Care, which serves up dermabrasion and Botox over lunch hour? Or Club Libby Lu, where preteen girls can get a makeover, advice and “cool princess paraphernalia,” all in a members-only setting? Or a chain of bowling alleys at which the chocolate martini is more popular than Budweiser?

Jason Skin Care Products
Annatopia is raving about Jason cosmetics skin care products
I try to take good care of my skin. I was not one of those kids who suffered from acne during puberty, and I've stayed out of the sun for about twelve years, so my skin has retained much of it's elasticity. However, I'm thirty now and I'm finally starting to get smile lines. I used to simply wash my face, but since I moved to D/FW my skin has lost a lot of moisture. Jason's dry skin line is fantastic. My face always feels soft and I never break out. It's expensive stuff, but I only have to buy it two or three times per year. Well worth it, IMO.

Quixtar Artistry Extend Product Line
The popular Quixtar cosmetics launch a men's line of skin care.
Artistry brand of skin care and cosmetics is one of the world’s top five best selling prestige brands announced by independent agency. “Artistry products incorporate the latest skin care innovations and technology. It’s a high value brand that has proven very successful for IBOs,” says Orrin Woodward.
“Building upon the great success of Artistry skin care products, Quixtar introduced Tolsom skin care for men last year,” adds Orrin Woodward. The Tolsom brand includes five products, facial cleansing foam, shave gel, after shave splash, skin smoothing gel, and skin protective lotion.
Meanwhile, Quixtar’s clear.now is the only acne skin care system that utilizes a patent-pending ingredient combined with maximum over-the-counter levels of salicylic acid. “Research shows skin looks and feels cleaner and smoother without drying or irritation when using clear.now,” explains Orrin Woodward. “This new product has been well received, especially among those with teens in their families."

Skin Care Scares Bartenders!
A nice fantasy about skin care making you look so young you get carded at the bar. Anyway, I wonder if this is a jar of Ariva skin care product???
You care about skin care, right? You wash your face at least once a week every three days daily, right? If you live in Alberta, you know the importance of moisturizer. Moisturizer prevents those ugly scars when the three-eighth inch welts you scratched into your face finally heal over. Moisturizer is our friend. Today I made friends with the most expensive moisturizer of my life. Today, I spent over $10.00 for a jar of white goo. The jar is small enough to fit into my only purse and have room left over for my cell phone, two sets of keys, wallet and spare change. The white goo is supposed to reverse the signs of aging. With any luck at all, I shall be refused service at the bar within two weeks, thereby increasing my spare time.
