Where To Draw The Line?

skin care tooth care tom's of maine A comparison of tooth care products.

For example - toothpaste. I have always used Crest - from my early childhood years, and still do to this day. It has been recommended by every dentist I have gone to, and I trust their recommendation. Now I see that there are plenty of natural and even organic toothpastes on the market. Besides wondering about taste, my question is, do these toothpastes work as well as the one my college-educated, experienced dentists recommend?

Raising Kids

skin care kids teeth The TV program Supernanny inspires comments on raising kids and tooth care.

Last night’s couple had two boys who were allowed to fall asleep on the sofa in front of the telly each evening. In this information abundant age it amazes me that some people simply haven’t worked out that a solid bedtime regime is good for kids, not to mention how good it is for parents who get some grown up time and with it a chance to hold onto their sanity. Do these people not talk to their own parents or friends with children for tips and handy hints? Do they not read the exhaustive manual that came courtesy of the health centre before baby was even born covering all manner of topics from tooth care to childhood illnesses and immunisation? Of course they don’t, but just about everyone I know does.

Teath Cleaning

skin care white teeth Those crazy Americans and their white teeth.

If you look up “teeth cleaning” online, you will be dumbfounded at the websites available to you. Whether you need information on proper tooth care, or are simply looking for a good whitening system, you will find it on the Internet. Since white teeth became all the rage in the 90’s, everyone seems to be vying for that brighter shade. Our media has deemed you unacceptable if you lack the necessary luster. If you check out other countries, you will soon notice that they don’t put near the focus on white teeth as we do. In fact, we often poke fun at them in our television programs and films. We Americans assume everyone wants perfectly straight, white teeth. I recall my trip to Taiwan, and my impression of their teeth cleaning habits. For some reason they didn’t seem to mind crooked teeth, or tar stains. This baffled me, coming from America, where image is everything.

Weary

skin care products It is amazing how many skin care and hair care products you can use in a day.

So last night, I was out per usual hanging out and talking with Eunice… until 3-something. I get home and wash (to get the smell of the crap cologne/perfume off of me) and go through all of my god-forsaken skin, hair and tooth care products, then sit down to read a chapter of stuff to get me all tucked away and happy… and end result? I’m sleeping at4:30 and even the sound of the midnight sprinklers which start at 3 have died. Great, whatever, I figured. I don’t need to really get up until 10 anyway, and that’s far enough away that I’ll get enough sleep to get by.

Trip To The Dentist

skin care dentist office Avoiding a trip to the dentist doesn't seem to reduce the anxiety.

I am going to the dentist this afternoon, breaking a streak impressively long enough that I will not identify it here. If I get bad news about the results of my personal tooth care during the streak, I will need to get creative to find someone to blame, but it will happen.

Replacing Missing Teeth

skin care missing tooth dentistry Dr. Shawn Gurley, D.D.S., talks about the use of dental implants to replace missing teeth.

Partial dentures, full dentures, and fixed bridges are now considered mediocre remedies compared to dental implants. Partial dentures can be unsightly and cause tooth decay; fixed bridges require the cutting down and crowning of natural, healthy teeth. “Dental implants,” Dr. Gurley comments, “are more ‘tooth friendly’.”

The most commonly used type of implant is placed in the actual bone (Endosteal). This type of implant is a great alternative for patients with bridges or removable dentures. According to Dr. Gurley, “The primary factor in implant success is that the patient must have adequate bone structure, since the implant relies on the jawbone for support.”

The process of dental implants may be intimidating for some patients. “It helps to know that implant techniques have been employed since the 1950’s, and improvements in procedures and materials have given implants an average success rate of 93 percent or better in a ten-year period,” assures Dr. Gurley.

Going to the Dentist's Office

skin care dentist office Skin care is just one part of beauty and health. A trip to the dentist can make you look much better. This blogger reports on some of the new technology you'll find in your dentist's office.

The words "See your dentist" have traditionally struck terror into many hearts. But it's not so bad anymore.

Modern technology has redefined the dentist's office from the ground up, Shapira said. "Everyone's trying to re-invent the wheel."

For example, you can now use a new electric toothbrush that incorporates a toothpaste receptacle. Touch a button to squirt your dollop of toothpaste onto the brush.

You can relax - really - in the dentist's chair now. It's been revamped, with different cushion design and ergonomic shaping, for the comfort of patient, dentist and hygienist. Even armrests are new.

Miniaturization has come to dentistry. In oral surgery, dentists incorporate tiny microscopes to scan oral tissue. They manipulate micro-cameras that slip down the side of the tooth to capture images of the root. The process isn't pain-free; you'll need anesthesia, Shapira said.

Drill bits have evolved beyond the big mosquitoes of old. Today's instruments have supplanted the older drill bits that used to wear out due to the effects of revolving from 30,000 to 100,000 rpm.

Cover Your Mouth!

skin care crooked teeth Skin care is just one part of beauty. People look at teeth, too, as an indication of good health and beauty. That's why this article is so surprising.

Many Japanese women have the habit of demurely covering their mouth with one hand when they giggle.

To the casual observer, the gesture appears to be just another manifestation of the rigid politeness for which Japan is famed.

But peer behind the hand, and the reason becomes clear: it is often an attempt to conceal a mouthful of crooked teeth.

Despite Japan's economic clout and the technological prowess of its companies, experts contend the country's dental services - and the teeth of its people - have made little progress.

The Japanese, along with the British, share the ignominious distinction of having the worst teeth among G7 nationals.

Does Kirsten Dunst Smile?

skin care kirsten dunst teeth

A Spiderman fan has some words of advice for Kirsten Dunst: do something about it!

I will give you no spoilers. I will not ruin the plot. I will not describe sequences involving actors and will not tell you about the cameos. I will not spoil the jokes and I will not tell you about the CGI action sequences. And I will definitely not tell you about the end.

But I will tell you this: Kirsten Dunst needs a damn good orthodontist.

Dr. Crabtree (real name) was my orthodontist while I was growing up in the San Francisco area. He was a genial man with a talent for making petty conversation with you while he tightened the metal braces around your teeth, took cement impressions of your teeth, jammed plastic spacers between your teeth to ready them for braces and as all of it was going on -- he came off as the most genuine man around.

Kirsten Dunst would, I'm sure, really like him.

Cheap Dental Insurance Plan

cheap dental insurance

Well, not dental insurance, exactly. But switch from regular to sugar free gum and save a fortune at the dentist's office.

Chewing on Sugar free gums helps in the stimulation of saliva which protects the teeth from dental decay and against plaque acid. This is known to reduce tooth decay by upto 40 percent in people who chew sugar free gum than people who don't.

Well what better dental insurance can you get than sugar free gum?
